Starts Apr 17
170 US dollars

Service Description

**Repertoire courses focus on learning songs and tunes, along with the history and social context of the music. Arrangements are generally presented with a scaffolded approach so that novice to advanced students can all participate.** Dig into music from America's "Songcatchers" -- Jean Ritchie, AP Carter, The Lomaxes, Ruth Crawford Seeger, and others. We'll learn a few of my favorite songs from each of these folk music archivists, plus a bit of their history. I'll show you some of my favorite books and websites for exploring early folk music, and how to adapt this traditional music to the mountain dulcimer. We'll explore playing with a noter and feather, a few different tunings, how to accompany singing with the dulcimer, and how to learn from source recordings. DAd tuning; re-tuning and capo required.
