Finding Your Sound

Service Description

In this 6-week Intensive course, Erin Mae will guide you into finding your own style as you learn to write arrangements that sound like you and only you. We’ll explore the magic behind music that tugs at our heartstrings, sets our toes to tapping, and makes us feel lost in the sound. You will learn the nuts and bolts of arranging, including how to add chords, play in different octaves, add filler notes, utilize various right- and left-hand techniques, add dynamics, and more. We'll also explore different ways to capture your ideas so you don't lose your work -- TablEdit software may be helpful, but is not required. The greatest goal of a folk musician is to sing (or play) in their OWN voice -- this course will help you get there! Capo and/or re-tuning may be required. **Creativity Courses are designed for mountain dulcimer players to find their own voice and musical expression. All levels and instrument varieties (standard, baritone, ginger, bass, chromatic, 4-equidistant, etc.) are welcome in these classes.**
