Baritone Dulcimer Tunes & Techniques

Service Description

This class is a celebration of the rich, deep resonance of the baritone dulcimer — all of the beautiful ways it can be played as a solo instrument, to accompany singing, and within ensembles. We’ll explore ways to play melodies without over-powering drones, to add rich bass lines, and to transition between finger-positions more smoothly without a lot of string squeaks. We’ll also study ways to play in a variety of common dulcimer keys, so that you can more easily play along with your friends or dulcimer club. **Baritone Mountain Dulcimers are tuned a fifth below standard mountain dulcimers, giving them a deep, rich tone. AEA and ADA tunings will be covered. This class is suitable for new baritone players with some experience playing standard mountain dulcimer.**
